The man behind the camera

My name is Kristjan Løk. I am 32 and reside in Holbæk, Denmark, with my partner Eugenie and our two children, Billie and Kai-Johan.

Before the children were born we lived in a small apartment in Nørrebro Copenhagen where we enjoyed the inner-city life, eating shawarma at Sheikh and Durumbar, drinking flat whites at the local coffee shop and spend every thursday, friday and saturdays at Copenhagens local bodegas.

When the eldest of our kids, Kai-Johan, announced his impending arrival we quickly decided to upsticks and act like grown-ups. So we moved to Holbæk and now live in a house in the suburbs. Oh how responsible we suddenly became, but we still enjoy a good coffee or a shawarma when going to Copenhagen, whilst I continue to sometimes dress like a cool Copenhagen dude who can’t quite find his way back to the big smoke!

From school teacher to elopement- and wedding photographer

I graduated as a school teacher in 2015 and for seven years it was my primary source of employment. I taught in a state school in Copenhagen, a boarding school in the countryside and a college for young adults in Holbæk. I love to work with and around other people, it gives me creative energy that I really enjoy.

In the summer of 2022 I decided to go full time as a elopement- and wedding photographer, a now or never moment perhaps? The seeds were sown back in 2013 when I undertook my first photographic assignment, I knew then that this was the career for me. Ten years later and over one hundred wedding shoots later I am just as enthusiastic. It is a privilege that one’s work is to document such an important milestone in the lives of loving couples. A day which will always be associated with love, happiness and commitment.

A love story that you can imagine

When I lived in Copenhagen I spent a lot of time experimenting with analog cameras and various pieces of equipment. It is the experiences from this period that I draw my inspiration, and my photographic approach too was honed during these countless hours. That approach is to tell a story through pictures, one that separates it from others.
A story where the unique atmosphere and the mood of your special day is reflected in each picture. One story-your story. Therefore it is essential for me that the photos I take of your wedding reflect who you are as individuals and now as a couple, rather than striving for the type of photoshoot you may find in a fashion magazine.
